i don’t really have anything to say. i just thought the post was mildly interesting. mainstream americans will probably start caring when we get to the final. if it doesn’t appear we even have a chance of winning, they don’t care. constrast to this world cup stories thing on the bbc last night about france where some french guy was saying that they expect to be second place. americans appear to expect to be 1st at all times.
Well, yeah. I think that “expect to be 1st at all times” comment describes America pretty succinctly. I’d say in general we have no interest in not being 1st. Once we slip or it’s obvious we will not be 1st, we lose interest. Take the Olympics or whatever, I think it applies.
