i forgot to mention this. at some point in the past 5 days i went to try and find the phish live cd from the 1995 new year’s eve show at madison square gardens. which i went to. supposedly, it’s one of the top 5 concerts of all time. anyway, i went down to the n1 centre to h.m.v. (big chain music store) since there doesn’t appear to be any independent cd stores in the neighborhood (flashback has used cds, but no phish. there are 2 vinyl stores within a block of my place though. weird). anyway, i don’t find any in the rack and so i asked this guy that worked there. looked like he might have even been a manager type. “do you have any phish?”. “aren’t they usually in an aquarium?”. i didn’t laugh. he then starts asking what type of music etc. so he walks over to the ‘f’ section. i inform him that no, it’s spelled with a ‘ph’. after not finding anything, like i didn’t, he asks this other girl who also hasn’t heard of them. am i in a music store? at some point i had informed him they were an american band. didn’t help. i asked if they had an ‘imports’ section. he said no. really a stupid question since if they did everything in the store would be in it except the beatles, rolling stones, led zepplin, oasis and tom jones (assuming an ‘import’ is outside the uk and not england). he offered to order it, but i gave up and left.
so, i went right next door to the book, music, dvd store. i can’t remember the name, but it’s a chain that’s all over the place as well. they had 1 copy on junta. there first cd from over a decade ago.
i guess i’ll have to remember to get it when i get back.
