this is funny for numerous reasons. first off, the band selected is a british band named embrace (i’m not linking to their site because they require you to install their own media player to listen to their shitty music.). second of all, the song, “world at your feet”, is crap. it might actually give that lame ass u.s. song “goals! goals! goals!” some competition. ok, it’s not that bad, but shit is shit. does it really matter the degree? thirdly, and most funny, is that supposedly most of the world cup stars wanted kanye west, but the english f.a. snubbed him because they wanted a brit. i can understand that, but you could at least choose something good or stay with rap like the players wanted. i’m sure rap wasn’t good for the f.a. either. it’s even funnier since the england manager is swedish.
the only mp3 version i found (i didn’t really look that hard) was embedded in the sun’s podcast. it’s about 12 minutes in, but i really wouldn’t bother. just imagine any lame, no balls light rock pop crap and you’ve got it nailed. i wonder if the f.a. is paying journalists to say it’s good? as someone commented in the first sun article, they should have gotten robbie williams.
i’m frightened to think what the u.s. will come out with. i’m saying they go with rob zombie “never gonna stop”. good song, good video (”clockwork orange” references). anyone on bigsoccer should probably start a pre-emptive vote for the peoples song now. maybe they already have. you may post your choice(s) in the comments below. they will, of course, be meaningless.
