i went to the pub, the new rose, which is literally about 20 yards from my flat, to watch the match. it was interesting that there were actually some pompey fans there. seems a little odd since i could probably walk to highbury in about 30 minutes. i hadn’t been in the pub at night yet, only lunch. it’s a pretty decent place. a bit like metro bistro. it also has the same downside that all the attractive, and in this case all, women in there are not single. nice place though. i was kind of surprised that the women, probably 3, that were in there were actually into the game. maybe a lesson to be learned for american women.
the place has a projector. which is nice. the image was bright and saturated. however, the signal, i think satellite, was crap. i used to think the compression artifacts from digital cable were bad. this was even worse. high def should really be abandoned in favor of just giving all the bandwidth to normal resolution so the picture will actually be free of crap. who’s in charge of making these crappy decisions?
i think i forgot to mention this past weekend that i went to a different pub down the street for the chelsea v west ham and manchester united v arsenal matches. i finally had a sunday roast. it was decent. a huge amount of food. overall for the trip i think i’ve actually lost weight due to all the walking. not that i needed to.
on a related note, i went and got a ticket for the fulham v charlton match this saturday. i wanted to try and see west ham v manchester city, but it’s sold out. unbelievable. i still have to figure out how to get to reading on monday if i want to try and catch their match against stoke city. manchester united is playing tottenham, in london, the same day, but i doubt i can get a ticket for a reasonable price. i’ve lost interest in the exhorbitant tout prices. forget that, i just looked and all reading home games, all 2 of them, are sold out.
