i went to the linux users group meeting. it was lame. i would say less interesting than the birmingham group, but i didn’t talk to everyone. i went ahead and left early because the girl wouldn’t turn on the t.v. for the arsenal match in the room we were in. what the hell? it seemed like everyone at the meeting i talked to had no interest in football. what ever happened to a renaissance man? there was some guy claiming to be into a.i. and building a brain, but he wasn’t a programmer and claimed to at one point have been a philosopher. yeah, right. i don’t see that making it very far.

anyway, i had a few pints at the place. you gotta love good public transportation. although, it’s still more effort than walking 3 blocks.

at some point i will actually post some pictures. really.

So…what you’re saying is that computer nerds are computer nerds no matter the accent? ;)

So, I suppose you were thinking more of a Linux UG meeting where there are strippers and football matches, which does sound good. Especially, if you could keep nerds from coming and ban tech talk. I haven’t been to many LUG meetings, actually just the one you had at the office, but I’m thinking that sort of meeting may be somewhat atypical for Linux UGs.

the lug meetings in birmingham are similar. well, at least the beer drinking ones at dave’s pizza. i just know who to talk to already. i don’t have much patients for wading through people. probably why i have a small group of friends. that or my personality.

an accent definitely doesn’t stop one from being an idiot.
