today after lunch i got off at the vauxhall station. i ended up walking all the way down nine elms lane (sort of) through what would probably be described as low-income housing. i then walked all the way around queenstown road, took a right onto grosvenor road and walked back to my hotel (near pimlico station). i was mainly trying to get a look at battersea power station which is being turned into a shopping and condo thing. there’s a nice apartment building already next to it. it’s massive. here’s some pictures.

it’s pretty huge. it will be interesting to see how it turns out.
i’m going to try and go find a decent pizza. it’s almost impossible to find a good hamburger here. i ate at this more expensive place named “ed’s” for lunch. it’s sort of like “johnny rockets”, but not nearly as good. no special sauce or anything. i can see why there are so many thai and indian restaurants over here. everything else seems completely bland. they seem to like mayo (bland) and the burger today had “mild” american mustard. do they enjoy it that way? i may have to start learning to like asian food. it would also be convenient since it seems everytime i’m wondering around the covent garden area i end up in chinatown.
btw, it’s been frigid cold the past couple of days. it’s 4c (39f) now and supposed to get down to 1c tonight. still no snow, but apparently there has been to the north (manchester, obviously). i normally like cold weather, but it doesn’t go too well with wandering around aimlessly.
Man! You’re blight tour almost took you right to battersea park, were people go to recreate. That was close. Try again tomorrow!
The view from above over the powerstation really shows some awesome potential for that site. Especially if they put a roof over the interior of that huge thing.
It was 83 degrees in Tuscaloosa yesterday.
i did walk right next to battersea park. it’s too cold for people to be recreating. the interesting thing about the area around battersea is that it’s definitely a wrong side of the tracks situation. you have the new modern apartments around battersea park, cross the train tracks and it’s straight in the crapper.
